Ojochal and the Surrounding Towns of the Costa Ballena South Pacific Region.

Vista Cascada is located in the quaint town of Ojochal, nestled within the Costa Ballena area, which also includes the neighboring towns of Uvita and Dominical. The drive between these towns is a breeze, thanks to the paved and modern Route 34 that hugs the Pacific Ocean coastline.

Ojochal

Of the three towns, Ojochal is the least touristy, often considered a "bedroom community" by US standards. In addition to offering beautiful beaches, Ojochal is known as the culinary center of the area, boasting a wide variety of dining options. These range from high-end gastronomic gems to casual farm-to-table bistros, cafés, and more. The diverse culinary scene includes Mexican, Central American, and Costa Rican casual spots known as "Sodas," sushi/Asian cuisine, wood-fired pizza, homemade bagels and pastries, organic coffee, liquor/grocery stores, pubs, and more.

Uvita

Located about a 10-minute drive north of Ojochal, Uvita serves as the commercial hub of the Costa Ballena area. Here, you'll find traditional grocery stores, superstores (think Walmart), banks, souvenir shops, galleries, and an array of restaurants, bars, and nightlife options. Uvita has a vibrant atmosphere, especially during the high season, yet it still maintains the laid-back "Pura Vida" vibe that Costa Rica is famous for. Uvita is also home to the renowned Ballena National Marine Park, a must-see destination, particularly at low tide. Most of the area’s tour operators are centered in Uvita, making it a convenient base for exploring local attractions.

Dominical

A peaceful ten-minute drive north from Uvita's town center, Dominical is a world-famous surfer’s destination known for its chill, laid-back vibe. This beach town offers a variety of shops, galleries, bars, and restaurants catering to every budget. Dominical’s relaxed atmosphere is perfect for those looking to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Costa Rica.
